Fillings, Crowns...

Composite fillings
Smaller holes in a tooth often only require fillings. Today’s fillings are white in colour and therefore aesthetically pleasing. They are manufactured by the dentist from ceramic composites.
Dental inlays
Inlays are extremely durable fillings that are hand-crafted in the dental laboratory using precise CAD/CAM technology. They can be manufactured from gold or ceramics (Zirconium). The colour of a Zirconium inlay/onlay can be exactly matched to the existing shade of white of the natural tooth, giving the impression that the tooth isn’t filled at all. Whilst initially more expensive than a conventional filling, inlays represent excellent long-term value for money as they are considerably longer lasting.
Dental bridges
Bridges are used to replace missing teeth by a fixed and solid denture. The neighbouring teeth are ground and crowned and serve as "bridge pillars". The gaps can be filled by placing the bridge elements between the neighbouring teeth. The materials listed above under "Crowns" are used here, too.
Dental crowns
Crowns are used when the tooth cannot be preserved any more by using fillings, due to too much destruction. Crowns can be manufactured out of noble metal such as gold. Today, however, the vast majority of patients choose fused crowns (ceramic outer layer, bonded to a Nickel-free metal) or full-ceramic (Zirconium) crowns. Zirconium is slightly translucent, just like a tooth and has a particularly natural appearance. It is therefore the material of choice when replacing front teeth. It is also recommended for patients suffering from metal-allergies.
