Dental implants are natural-looking replacements and longest lasting solution to missing teeth. They provide the similar function as your natural tooth root.
There are many options to consider when replacing missing single tooth or multiple teeth and dental implants are one of the most common procedures. They are ideally suited for patients who have lost their teeth due to periodontal disease or an injury. Dental Implants are more comfortable than conventional bridges and partial dentures. Additionally, they protect your other natural teeth as there is no need for drilling of neighbouring teeth as it might be the case with bridges. Implants can also prevent the shrinkage of the bone which happens after teeth have been missing for a longer period of time.
Before implants are placed the dentist will have to assess the health of your gums and teeth. If there is any indication of gum disease or decay, these will have to be treated first. In some cases bone grafting might be necessary if there is not enough bone material to hold an implant.
